We opened our first store in Port Alberni in 1993, and have since added stores in Nanaimo and Courtenay. We’ve been selling gear online for over 20 years. Our location on Vancouver Island on British Columbia’s rugged west coast dictates what we specialize in. Our ocean and freshwater fishing makes us a destination for avid anglers from all over the world. We fish here 12 months of the year.

NECHAKO OUTDOORS
Nechako Outdoors started life as Northern Trout Fitters, a well-established smaller fly fishing shop which opened in 1992. In 2009, Trout Fitters was purchased by the ownership of Omineca Sports from Vanderhoof, and became the launching pad for the Omineca's planned expansion into Prince George.
In March 2012, a move to a larger store was done and the new location was renamed Nechako Outdoors, named after the region’s Nechako River which ties Vanderhoof and Prince George together. We have now moved into a brand new location in Vanderhoof, which has been renamed Nechako Outdoors as well. We're located on Highway 16 across from Tim Hortons.

The business has changed hands few times over the decades, and grown with the aquisition of Courtenay's Peter's Sports in 2003. Both Campbell River and Courtenay stores now belong to the Kirk and Whelan families of Campbell River. Long known for our outstanding service, it is the great people who make up our current and former staff that have cemented our reputation.
